Durability and Corrosion Behavior of High-Performance Concrete and Reinforcing Steels for Infrastructure Applications in Qatar

Durability and Corrosion Behavior of High-Performance Concrete and Reinforcing Steels for Infrastructure Applications in Qatar

Sponsor: Qatar National Research Fund

The objectives of the proposed research were to: (i) identify the primary degradation mechanisms of RC infrastructure in the unique environmental conditions in Qatar, (ii) investigate how emerging technologies in advanced construction materials can be exploited to enhance the durability and reduce the life-cycle costs of infrastructure, (iii) identify best construction practices that complement the use of high-performance materials to maximize structural durability, and (iv) perform a probabilistic life-cycle analysis of structural systems to evaluate the long-term performance of the proposed solutions.
